HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Meteor showers in Phoenix tonight!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  We hope you are enjoying a great start to 2007!

Meteor shower to light up skies tonight over Valley

Look up to the skies tonight and you may see one of the best meteor showers of the year.

The Quadrantid meteor shower, which produces 50 to 120 meteors per hour, ends Friday. Experts say the best view is in the northeast after midnight and overhead before dawn, but Jane Ceasor said she could see the shower from her home in Carefree early Wednesday evening.

The meteors "might be mistaken for fireworks, it seemed so close," Ceasor said.

The Quadrantids are seldom observed because the shower peaks in early January when skies are cold and cloudy. Expect the full moon to impede visibility.

If you have the chance, it's supposed to be a great show!  Try to get out tonight (wear layers!) and watch nature's fireworks.
