Things to do in the Phoenix area 2-20-14

I have mentioned many times before that January and February are chock full of all kinds of events and things to do for locals and winter visitors.  Considering the awful weather that much of the country has been dealing with this winter, it seems even more unfair that we actually have had a very mild winter with most days above the average temperatures.    Well this week there is still plenty to do.  I actually went to the AZ Renaissance festival this past weekend with my wife and daughter.  My daughter had so much fun, she is planning to go back with friends before it is over. So, here are some of the happenings.

The Renaissance festival will continue each weekend through March

There are numerous Art events throughout the valley including the Fine Art Fest and Celebration of fine art in N. Scottsdale and art walks in many other locales

There is a  ceramics studio tour this weekend in locales around Phoenix.

If imbibing is your thing, this is Arizona Beer Week AND Arizona Cocktail week.  There are special events all over the valley all week including parties, tastings, competitions and pub crawls. Just remember not to drink and drive!

The Arabian Horse show will wrap up it’s run this Sunday at Westworld in Scottsdale, and of course there are games with Suns and Coyotes (after the Olympics of course)

The Arizona SciTech Festival is taking place state-wide, offering a diverse array of events geared at families, students, business and civic leaders.  It runs through Feb and March.

If you want some cultural events, there is the Matsuri festival at Science and Heritage park in Phoenix,

If cars move you, check out the Chandler classic car and hot rod show this weekend or drag racing with NHRA nationals

There are all kinds of festivals this weekend including the Fountain Hills Great Fair ,

The Lost Dutchment Days in Apache Junction, and in Litchfield Park you’ll find Flavors of the West on Sunday featuring cooking demos, live music and more.

This is just a small sampling of all there is to do this week and weekend.  For a full list, check out this link:
