Is your Realtor Professional?

Today, is a little bit of a rant, but it should also be good information to people who are looking to enlist the services of a Realtor.  When I prepare to show properties to my buyer clients, I often have to call to see what the access to the property is, because it isn’t in the listing.  Additionally, I often call with questions to determine info that will be a help to the buyer.  Unfortunately, Our ever changing market has created a serious lack of professionalism.  There are many agents who have gotten into the REO or lender owned market that have forgotten that there are people involved in a home sale, not just the corporations.  Many of these agents don’t answer their phones, and even say so in their listings.  Unfortunately,  this often means that the questions go unanswered, for long periods of time, and sometimes completely.  I think this is unacceptable.

If an agent is too busy to answer the phone, or at least return phone calls, then either they need to hire more people for their team, or they need to cut back on their listings.  I don’t answer everytime someone calls me, because I think it is rude when I am in an appointment with other clients or showing homes.  But, I return my calls.  Sometimes I wonder if the sellers , whether they are individuals or corporations know this is how they are being represented.  That is something to consider when you are looking to hire an agent.  How will your home be represented to the public.  If a potential buyer or agent can’t get answers, they are going to move onto another property.  Inventory levels are too high right now to allow this to happen.  Know who you are dealing with and how they deal with others!
