Phoenix Metro Area - A Great Place to be!
Expansion Management Magazine (a trade magazine that evaluates expansion locations for companies) released its list of the top 50 cities for companies to expand in or relocate to. The Phoenix metro area was on the list. The following is an excerpt from the article that focuses on the Phoenix/Scottsdale/Mesa metropolitan statistical area. The Phoenix metro maintains a good reputation among site location consultants, believing it critical to attract companies, said Barry Broome, president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC).
In September, California based Marvell Electronics expanded operations into Chandler, Ariz., in the Phoenix metro. The company will create 400 jobs in the $5 million investment. Marvell will build a 123,000 square foot facility.
Covance, a New Jersey-base drug development services companies, will also expand operations in Chandler with a 300,000 square foot facility. The company will create 500 jobs as a result of the project.
"We want to make sure [consultants] think of Greater Phoenix when helping their clients select a site and use us as a resource to obtain the information they need," Broome said.<<
The list was compiled as an annual poll of 80 prominent corporate site location experts that gave their list of the best places to expand or relocate a business.
We have blogged many times in the past, especially when the naysayers predicted the doom of mankind (alright, not mankind, but the real estate market) about the factors that make this market strong. We have pointed out that the Phoenix market, while somewhat following the national trends, would most likely rebound earlier and faster than most other national markets. We have based this opinion on the local economy, job growth and of course the weather. This area ranks high with many groups, including those looking for retirement or vacation homes. We still have a large influx of young buyers and families as well, and articles like this point out some of the reasons why. A vibrant economy, and desirable climate certainly help. We were reminded of that twice today while speaking with out of state clients complaining about the 5 degree weather they were having. We're not just for golf and sunshine! You can live here too!
