How hard do you want to work?

Hi,

I am headed out with a client tomorrow to look at some homes, most of which are short sales.  They originally called on a foreclosed property, but mentioned that they seem to like short sales better, because there is more of a chance of them being in better shape.  What was really interesting was that they had been working with another agent who refused to work with short sales.  Now, that's not all that uncommon, but they told me that this agent also has another job or two.  I just don't understand how the agent is willing to work 3 jobs, but isn't willing to take the time to learn about a large segment of our market.  If the agent actually worked the business, then maybe 3 jobs wouldn't be necessary.   I am a firm believer in working smart not hard.  In this market most people, me included have to do both.  But working smart will always win out.

Short sale are a royal pain in the rear.  But, for someone who takes the time to learn about them, they can be a good source of business.  Anything worth achieving will take some effort.  One good thing about the current real estate market, is that many of the part timers have moved on.  This makes it easier to look after my clients without worrying about the other guys not knowing what they are doing.

Short sales will be with us for a while, just as foreclosures will.  Short sales are a great way to help someone avoid foreclosure. If for no other reason, I want the short sales because helping someone avoid foreclosure I view as a good deed.  There are alternatives and not enough people know about them.  For more info regarding qualifying for a short sale, please feel free to contact me.
