Scottsdale in January-The Place To Be!

HI,

The beginning of the year is always exciting here in Scottsdale.  While there is always something to do, the possibilities are multiplied greatly in the beginning of the year.  This week the high temps are supposed to be in the 70's F all week with the sun shining brightly!  Considering all of the snow storms wreaking havoc elsewhere in the states, it's worth the price of a plane ticket just to bask in our weather!

This week could easily be called Auto Week here.  Forget the NAIAS in Detroit, if you really want to see some gorgeous cars, this is the place to be.  For auto enthusiasts, it's time for the "Arizona Auctions"  Car collectors from around the world converge on Scottsdale and Phoenix to attend one (or more) of seven separate auctions being held.  The most famous is the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction held at WestWorld in Scottsdale.  If you want to see how hyper the activity can become, just watch the broadcast on Speed- but it's nothing like being there.  In addition to BJ, but no less interesting, are auctions by Kruse, Russo & Steel, RM, Gooding, ICA and Silver. The auctions are this week and next.

But the fun doesn't stop there.  Scottsdale is known for it's golf and it's almost time for the FBR Open (formerly Phoenix Open) at the TPC of Scottsdale.  This is considered the party stop on the PGA tour.  It's nice to watch the golf, but this tourney is so much more.  People watching and scheduled entertainment after the golf is done make this a popular destination for people of all ages.  The FBR runs from 1/26-2/1.

Scottsdale is also known as a prime destination for equestrians.  Famed for it's Arabian farms in the recent past, it still hosts an Arabian Horse Show starting 2/12.  If you aren't that into horses, you will still marvel at the majesty and beauty of the horses at this show.  Now imagine that majesty and beauty combined with theatrics similar to Cirque du Soleil and you have Cavalia.  This show toured through here a few years ago, and I saw it then.  I highly recommend it to anyone, even if you don't care about horses.   The four peaked tent reminiscent of a medieval castle that holds this show is going up now in preparation for the start of the show on Valentines Day.  It runs from 2/14-3/1.

Last year we had the Super Bowl.  This year it's the NBA All Star Game at US Airways Center in February.  There are all kinds of activities surround this event that can be fun for the whole family.

Since I mentioned the Super Bowl, let's not forget that the NFC Championship game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Philadelphia Eagles is this weekend on 1/18. The winner goes to the Super Bowl.

So, if you haven't figured it out, this is a great place to be.  If you don't care about any of the activities I mentioned, then come for the glorious weather, sit by a pool, take a hike on Camelback Mountain or Piestewa Peak (or others), or what ever you do to relax.  You might like it enough to stay.  (Of course if you want to, don't forget to contact me to help you find the right home for you!)

Have a great day!
