Ever changing expectations

HI,

Well, spring is definitely here.  We hit 90 degree temps for the first time this year, and obviously not the last.  We haven't had much rain, but flowers are blooming, and it is still great here in the Desert Southwest.

I have been assisting a few Canadian buyers lately.  There are some differences to take into consideration when assisting out of town buyers, whether from out of the country or not.  One of my current clients said to me, "you should write a novel about people like us who keep changing what they want"  Ok, not an exact quote, but pretty much what he said.  The thought behind this came from the fact that we have effectively been looking for property for 5-6 months.  Most of this has been by email, with a couple of visits to look at property. What we are looking for now, is somewhat different from what we were originally looking at.

What a lot of buyers, and even agents don't realize is that home buying is a process.  It's a matter of identifying what works for YOU.  My client is surprised that I am willing to do everything that I have done to get this right for them.  But, knowing that there are specific questions to ask, and the answers to those questions will providea whole new set of questions until we really find out what works is key.  Many agents get annoyed when the parameters keep changing.  I look at it as progress.  We are getting closer to the goal.  It would be great if every one of my buyer's new exactly what they wanted and didn't veer from it.  But that isn't reality.  Why am I mentioning all of this.  Simple - as a buyer, you have to understand that very few people will find exactly what they want right away.  Most people don't really know what they want, and that is why we keep the whole thing fluid.  Keeping an open mind and understanding why your agent is asking so many annoying and sometimes personal questions is important.  As your Realtor, I need to know what makes you tick. Otherwise, we won't find the right HOME for you.

So, Let's keep the communication going!!
