Thanksgiving

Hello, and best wishes for a Happy Healthy Thanksgiving.  Don't forget to take time to think about what you are thankful for and remember those that aren't as fortunate.

Maybe this is the first year that you are making the T-Day dinner, or maybe you just need some tips, well we are here to help.  After all, we help you find a home, we want to help it feel like home as well.

TURKEY TIPS

What's the best way to thaw a frozen turkey?         The easiest way is to place the wrapped bird in the refrigerator.  Plan about 24 hours for each 5 lbs of the weight. Remember not to count the day you will be roasting it.  Never thaw at room temperature.  Of course, if you are reading this now, and you turkey is still frozen, you're out of luck, and that quick trip to the market will save face with your guests (how would they know, just smear some grease on your face, and they'll think you were slaving all day) Just kidding!

Can I stuff the turkey the night before I roast it?         It is unsafe to stuff the turkey ahead of time. The chilled stuffing in the turkey will not reach a safe temperature before the turkey is done.  Besides, if your guests arrive really early, you can put them to work.  Now that's something to be thankful for.

Why should you spoon the stuffing into the turkey loosely?      Stuffing expands as it roasts.  If stuffing is too tightly packed, it will not reach a safe temperature by the time the turkey is done.  You want to stuff yourself anyway, why spend all that time stuffing the turkey!

Well enjoy it anyway you can!
