According to AZCentral.com, Westcor has agreed to build a mall in Coolidge, AZ - in the far SE Valley. Westcor owns and opperates major shopping centers such as Scottsdale Fashion Square, Chandler Fashion Center, and Arrowhead Towne Center. Preliminary plans call for a 1.2 million-square-foot indoor mall similar in size to Chandler Fashion Center, a 600,000-square-foot outdoor big box power center and a 60-acre auto mall. Restaurants, hotels, theaters and a hospital could also be built.
Coolidge is a city ready to EXPLODE - there are many slated Master-Planned Communities in and around Coolidge, including the new Anthem project. The mall alone will bring 5,000 construction an permanent jobs to the area.
Construction will start once 200,000 residents live within 5 miles of the site, at Bartlett and Wheeler Roads, or in 15 years. Realistic projections figure the mall will be under way within 5 years.
